So a rather un-shocking FA Cup weekend saw United and Arsenal both draw, with other ‘big hitters’ Chelsea, Tottenham, Man City, Liverpool, and lastly Everton all cruising through. Those latter four results saw Uncle Bernstein win his (and the team’s!) first accumulator, his ‘must win’ theory proving correct, at healthy odds of 3.25 to give him a nice return. High conviction in the Tottenham/Coventry game also saw a 20 point profit for Uncle B, but I suspect Fulham will now be permanently off the Xmas card list after letting him down for the 3rd time in 4 weeks.
Other highlights of a slightly better week for the team included my beloved ITFC finally doing what they were expected to, and rolling over at Villa Park – despite leading 1-0 at the hour mark. Town tired in the 2nd half, with Villa able to call on the experience of Darren Bent and Shay Given to progress. It was also largely a good weekend for goals, with the returning Joe Cole helping West Ham score twice as hoped (dashing Dr. Zoidberg’s expectation of an easy United win), while Norwich’s midfield produced the goods as predicted at London Road.
It’s back to the rigours of the Premier League this weekend, and I’m sure Dr. Zoidberg’s penchant for the ‘Big Game’ market will see him wade in to the Liverpool/Man United clash, while the upcoming Australian Open and India/England ODI series will give Uncle Bernie a chance to leave Craven Cottage behind and entertain us with some more of his exotic bets…!
