Week 10 Review

Wayne Rooney to the rescue ended up being the flavour of the weekend. The woodwork, which was struck four times in the first half, had looked certain to dash our 25-1 chance at the first time of asking, but Rooney’s cool finish and some slap dash defending in the final ten minutes was just enough to see us home and up to £40.38 with 24 bets to go.

Individually there were a couple of near misses that left our pundits in the red for this week. THTP had lot of eggs in his Arsenal/Everton double and the latter let him down, who were in themselves lucky to scrape a point. Villa certainly have been inconsistent and I don’t think many would have seen them scoring three at Goodison Park. On the positive side, THTP won both of his other picks on the rugby and football.

Uncle Bernstein equally had some near misses. The super bowl was one hell of a game, but an inspired first half from The Ravens was enough to see them home against The Uncle’s pick for the 49ers. He was also on the receiving end of a couple of low scoring games involving Man U and Arsenal, games which would usually bring a bevy of goals. However an excellent pick for a large England win in the rugby at better than evens saw his losses reduced.

Dr Zoidberg won’t be adding Adel Taarabt to his Christmas card list, after the unpredictable forward missed a penalty to deny him a banker win for QPR against Norwich. A game the super hoops really should’ve got over the line was another example of exactly why they’re still stranded off the foot of the table. A late Reading win at least lessened the downside and the Watford “best odds I’ve ever seen” was a little bit close for comfort, but nonetheless a bet won.

All aboard Week 11!
